Fender-light vespa
The classical vespa was that one with chromed handlebar and fender-light, without any doubt. In the whole they produced this model for 11 years. The favourite in value is the first series V98. No stand, wheel hub on left side and closed motor-sidepanel are the first differences you can see. Of course everything is different at this first model. With the V1 started the range of 125cc models. First with sting-cylinder, soon the vespa motor developed wich was produced until 1957. The engine swing could be divided from the engine casing. In the beginning of the 50ies the stick-shift gearchange changed to the cable controlled. The first coulor was an metallic-green, from 1952 on they had several grey. There were about 600000 vehicles produced in Italy.
T1,T2,T3
The types T1/T2/T3 in Italy are only known as model VL and VB. The T1 (VL is the first Vespa with 150cc and front lamp up. The chassis changed to VB. This model, only painted in metallic-blue looks like the german T3. But in Italy they had 8-inch wheels. From 1954 until ´58 they build about 230000 of this models.
VNA-T4
The fender-light models were alternated in 1957 from the VNA model. The totally newdeveloped motor is used in principle until today in the PX-range. The VNA and some VNB models had a divisible handlebar made of tin. The VNB was mostly painted in grey with a cast handlebar. As a parallel-range there were the VNA and VBB with 150cc engine and painted in blue. These models in Germany are called T4. That´s wrong, but frame codes are for specialists. Besides all these models had 8-inch wheels. About 820000 were produced between 1957 and ´66.

GL - Rally200
We comprehend the so-called Sprint-Rally models in this catalogue for reasons of space. For the beginners they are easy to recognice because of the side panels, wich are no longer „round“. Also the tipical handlebar, trapezoid or the big round one of the Rally, are known well. These models are a perfect harmony of classical vespa of the 50ies and the PX-range. If you look at vespa GL and the last Sprint models, you hardly see the difference of 16 years. But in detail these models are utterly different. From Italy has been imported many of these, especially the 125cc models wich werent available in Germany. Also today you can bring them home from a holliday-trip to Italy for a few bucks.
GL/Sprint/Super
The vespa GL was the successor of the popular vespa150 (VBB) (in Germany „T4“). It exists from 1962 on painted all in ivory, even fork and rims had the same colour. This form, popular called Sprint and Rally, began with the GL (VLA). New were the trapezoid headlamp and 10 inch wheels, besides the more angolar sidepanels and frame (but not as much as the following Sprint). About 80000 pieces were produced from 1962 until ´65. The GL got new colours, in principale silver, and from 1965 changed into Sprint (VLB). As GT (VNL) it was delivered with 125cc engine. The new type from 1968 on with 3 ports inside engine is called Sprint Veloce (VLB). GT became GTR. About this time the classical trapezoid handlebar from the 60ies changed into the big round one. The producing rate was about 450000 from 1965 until 1980. At the same time existed also the vespa Super (VNC =125 cc and VBC =150 cc). This modell is a mix of all, with an special mudgard, 8 inch wheels, primavera handlebar and a frame similar to the Sprint. About 577000 pieces they produced from 1965 until ´79.
Rally180/200
The biggest of this range are the Rally models. As sucessor of SS180 came the Rally180 (VSD) followed in 1972 by Rally200 electronic (VSE). They were painted in different orange tones, tipical for the 70ies. Between 1968 and ´73 they build about 26000 Rally180, and from 1972 until ´79 the Rally200 was build 41000 times. „Little Rally“ is called the vespaTS (VNL3), wich was not produced for the german market. The 125cc engine is the only difference between TS and Rally. They produced about 28000 TS in the years 1975-´78. The most important Detail of the Rally are the left sidepanel wich can be taken off, the spare wheel under the sidepanel and the compartment in the legshield.
